Een interessante vraag, omdat zij raakt aan de kern van iedere investering: de aannames waarop de investeringscase is gebaseerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volgens het FD veranderen de economische fundamenten van de accountancy sneller dan veel investeerders hadden voorzien. Veranderende regelgeving beperkt de verwachte groei uit duurzaamheidsrapportages. Artificial Intelligence (AI) zet een businessmodel onder druk dat grotendeels draait om declarabele uren. Tegelijkertijd kijken toezichthouders kritischer naar de invloed van externe investeerders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De conclusie is logisch. Wanneer de economische fundamenten van een sector veranderen, moet ook de investeringscase opnieuw worden beoordeeld. Dat roept automatisch de vraag op of dezelfde analyse ook geldt voor verzekeringsdistributie. Volgens MarshBerry is dat niet het geval. Niet omdat verzekeringsdistributie minder verandert dan accountancy, maar omdat private equity in deze sector in iets fundamenteel anders investeert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-waarin-investeert-private-equity-eigenlijk\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waarin investeert private equity eigenlijk?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Om die vraag te beantwoorden, moeten we eerst terug naar de kern van de investeringscase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bij accountancy is de economische motor relatief eenvoudig. De omzet wordt grotendeels verdiend met professionals die hun tijd declareren. Technologie kan dat model effici\u00ebnter maken, maar raakt tegelijkertijd ook direct de economische basis ervan. Wanneer minder uren nodig zijn om hetzelfde werk uit te voeren, verandert vanzelf de relatie tussen capaciteit, omzet en winst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bij verzekeringsdistributie ligt dat fundamenteel anders. Een intermediair verkoopt geen uren. Ook verkoopt het geen verzekeringen. Het organiseert de toegang tot de verzekeringsmarkt. De economische waarde zit in de klantrelatie, de kwaliteit van de portefeuille, de kennis van risico&#8217;s, het vertrouwen van klanten en het vermogen om vraag en verzekeringscapaciteit bij elkaar te brengen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Private equity investeert daarom niet in productiecapaciteit, maar in distributiekracht. Juist dat verschil maakt de investeringscase fundamenteel anders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-waarom-ai-de-investeringscase-juist-versterkt\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waarom AI de investeringscase juist versterkt<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vanuit dat perspectief krijgt ook de impact van AI een andere betekenis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waar AI in accountancy direct raakt aan de omzetmotor, automatiseert AI binnen verzekeringsdistributie vooral de processen rondom die omzetmotor. Acceptatie, administratie, polisbeheer en klantcommunicatie worden effici\u00ebnter. Daardoor verschuift de toegevoegde waarde juist naar activiteiten die moeilijk te automatiseren zijn: advies, risicostructurering, vertrouwen, data en het combineren van oplossingen van meerdere verzekeraars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI verlaagt daarmee vooral de operationele kosten, terwijl de strategische waarde van distributie juist verder toeneemt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-de-machtsbalans-verschuift\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De machtsbalans verschuift<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die ontwikkeling zien we inmiddels breder in de verzekeringsmarkt. Verzekeraars blijven vanzelfsprekend de dragers van risico en kapitaal. Maar naarmate producten transparanter worden en underwriting verder digitaliseert, verschuift concurrentie steeds minder naar product en prijs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De strijd gaat steeds vaker over toegang tot de klant. Dat zien we terug in embedded insurance, digitale platformen, affinity-distributie, volmachtbedrijven en MGA-modellen. Hoewel deze modellen sterk van elkaar verschillen, hebben zij \u00e9\u00e9n overeenkomst: zij vergroten allemaal de strategische waarde van distributie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De partij die de klantrelatie beheerst, bepaalt steeds vaker hoe verzekeringscapaciteit de markt bereikt. Distributie ontwikkelt zich daarmee van een operationele schakel tot een strategisch bedrijfsmiddel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-een-nieuwe-fase-voor-private-equity\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Een nieuwe fase voor private equity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dat verklaart waarom private equity de sector aantrekkelijk blijft vinden. Tegelijkertijd zien we dat investerdeers zich wel degelijk anders gaan gedragen. De eerste consolidatiegolf draaide vooral om schaal. Vrijwel ieder intermediairbedrijf kon rekenen op belangstelling van investeerders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De volgende fase draait om kwaliteit. Technologie, Agentic AI, data, specialisatie, managementkwaliteit, commerci\u00eble executiekracht en het vermogen om nieuwe distributiemodellen te ontwikkelen bepalen steeds sterker welke bedrijven daadwerkelijk waarde cre\u00ebren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dat betekent ook dat de verschillen tussen winnaars en achterblijvers groter worden. Bedrijven die onvoldoende investeren in technologie, data, specialisatie en nieuwe distributievormen zullen hun concurrentiepositie \u00e9n hun aantrekkelijkheid voor investeerders zien afnemen.
