This brings the year-to-date (YTD) total to 38 deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All four transactions involved businesses operating within the financial advice market. The most notable were Schroders deciding to sell Benchmark Capital to S\u00f6derberg &amp; Partners after a contested auction process, and Palatine Private Equity agreeing to sell its investment in the advice firm My Pension Expert to California-based Valeas Capital Partners, marking two deals with parties from overseas. The others were Tavistock&#8217;s acquisition of Plus Group, an artificial intelligence-powered advice technology and back-office support provider, and Perspective Financial Group\u2019s entry to Scotland with the acquisition of Phoenix Wealth Solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"860\" height=\"494\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-145950.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13010\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-145950.png 860w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-145950-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-145950-768x441.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With two transactions valued at more than \u00a3100m, M&amp;A amongst larger businesses in the sector remained strong. In fact, there has been a near-record number of deals of that size YTD, often involving buyers and investors from outside of the UK, as seen above. It highlights the trend towards larger transactions fuelled by continuing strong interest in strategically significant assets by private equity (PE) funds as well as their portfolio companies. In the meantime, deal activity continues to be driven largely by consolidation among smaller wealth managers and financial advice firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"934\" height=\"609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-151311.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13031\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-151311.png 934w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-151311-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-151311-768x501.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 934px) 100vw, 934px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PE accounted for the bulk of the volume of transactions, in most cases represented by their consolidator vehicles in the wealth management market. Only in a couple of deals were the targets not financial advice firms or integrated wealth managers. Instead, they were fintech businesses being pursued by a public company \u2013 Tavistock \u2013 in one case and a tech start-up in the other. In both, the acquisitions represent the opportunity to develop improved scalability in core propositions and complementing technology solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"876\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-150319.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13026\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-150319.png 876w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-150319-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/www.marshberry.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-06-150319-768x533.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 876px) 100vw, 876px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-notable-transactions-july-2026\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notable transactions (July 2026):<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schroders announced the sale of <strong>Benchmark Capital to S\u00f6derberg &amp; Partners<\/strong>. Benchmark oversees c.\u00a331bn of assets under influence and includes the adviser networks Best Practice IFA, Oculus Wealth Management and Evolution Wealth, alongside the Fusion Wealth platform. The acquisition accelerates S\u00f6derberg\u2019s ambition to add significant scale to its UK operations which will increase its UK client assets to c.\u00a360bn with the deal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. PE firm<strong> Valeas Capital Partners<\/strong> announced the acquisition of a majority stake in <strong>My Pension Expert<\/strong>. The Doncaster-based advice firm has \u00a32bn in assets under advice, c.20,000 clients and plans to increase its headcount from 132 to 230 staff. The deal involved Valeas buying Palatine\u2019s minority holding as well as shares from My Pension Expert\u2019s management, resulting in an overall stake of 75% being taken.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tavistock Investments<\/strong> announced the acquisition of advice technology and back-office support business <strong>Plus Group<\/strong>. The deal enables Tavistock to improve automation capabilities for retail investors by leveraging Plus Group\u2019s agentic artificial intelligence and financial planning technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-other-nbsp-uk-nbsp-transactions-nbsp-july-nbsp-2026-nbsp\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other&nbsp;UK&nbsp;transactions&nbsp;(July&nbsp;2026):<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Perspective Financial Group<\/strong> announced the acquisition of Glasgow-based <strong>Phoenix Wealth Solutions<\/strong>, marking its first acquisition in Scotland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clifton Wealth Partnership<\/strong> announced the acquisition of Suffolk-based financial planning firm <strong>Morgan Law Financial Services,<\/strong> adding \u00a3138m in assets under management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fairstone<\/strong> announced it had acquired four financial planning firms, adding a total of c.\u00a3360m in client assets. The targets were Sunderland-based <strong>Grainger Financial Planning<\/strong>, Northumberland-based <strong>Riverstone Wealth Management<\/strong> and two Aberdeen-based <strong>City Gate Aberdeen<\/strong> and <strong>Albyn Associates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Finli Group<\/strong> announced it had acquired seven firms adding an aggregate of \u00a3269m in assets under management, including Tiverton-based <strong>Simply Advice<\/strong>, Nottingham-based <strong>David Pinder<\/strong>, Beverley-based<strong> Ashley Phillips<\/strong>, Birmingham-based <strong>Griffin Wylde<\/strong>, Flitwick-based <strong>Stellar FP<\/strong>, Edinburgh-based <strong>Croesus<\/strong> and Littlehampton-based <strong>John Robinson<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Absolute Financial Group<\/strong> announced the acquisition of four financial planning firms, adding a combined \u00a3134m in assets under advice.
