Tom Linn joined MarshBerry in 1999 as a consultant responsible for the preparation of business valuations and appraisal reports, perpetuation plans, financial planning, and general consulting projects. Promotions to Senior Consultant, Vice President, and Executive Vice President coincided with increased responsibilities in merger and acquisition (M&A) work for various MarshBerry clients. In 2001, Tom established MarshBerry’s California office, where he currently serves the company as Executive Vice President. He also serves as a director on MarshBerry’s Board of Directors.
While at MarshBerry, Tom has advised insurance agencies and brokers, insurance companies, and financial institutions in all facets of financial and organizational development. He regularly acts as an advisor to CEOs and Boards of Directors. Over the course of his career at MarshBerry, Tom has served as the intermediary and advisor on insurance-related M&A transactions totaling more than $2 billion.
Prior to joining MarshBerry, Tom was the Executive Vice President / CFO at CalSurance Companies. That role included senior executive responsibility for the affiliated captive reinsurance company, third- party claims administrator, specialty wholesale broker and two risk retention groups. He also held the CFO position for two mid-sized companies earlier in his career.
Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Claremont McKenna College, where he also studied Business and Accounting. He currently maintains the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE®) Exam, in addition to the Series 62, 79, 63 and 24 FINRA Registrations through MarshBerry Capital, Inc., the affiliated FINRA- registered Broker/Dealer of Marsh, Berry & Co., Inc. Licenses and designations he has held in the past include that of Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, Certified Valuation Analyst, Enrolled Agent, and a Property/Casualty Insurance Agent license with the state of California.
