As Managing Director of MarshBerry’s UK office, Olly Laughton-Scott advises insurance distribution firms on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic growth initiatives, and value creation across the UK market. Olly is widely recognized as one of the UK’s most experienced insurance M&A advisors. In 1992, he founded IMAS Corporate Finance LLP and spent over 30 years building the firm into a leading advisory practice focused exclusively on the insurance distribution market. Under his leadership, IMAS became a trusted advisor to insurance brokers, consolidators, investors, and other industry stakeholders, earning a reputation for market insight, transaction expertise, and exceptional client service.
A key contributor to IMAS’s industry leadership was Olly’s development of IMAS-insight, the firm’s proprietary knowledge and market intelligence platform. By leveraging comprehensive transaction data, valuation intelligence, and market trends, the platform provided clients with actionable insights to support informed strategic and financial decisions. Combined with his extensive hands-on involvement in transactions across the sector, Olly brings a unique perspective that helps clients successfully manage competing priorities, uncover opportunities, and achieve optimal outcomes.
Before founding IMAS, Olly held positions with Cazenove and Kleinwort Benson, two of the City of London’s most respected financial institutions, where he developed a strong foundation in corporate finance, investment banking, and strategic advisory services.
Olly qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Exeter. He has been recognized in the Insurance Times Top 50 for his contributions to the industry and currently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee for a leading secondary school. Outside of work, he is a passionate and competitive sailor who enjoys racing sailing boats.
