MarshBerry Announces Appointment of New Managing Director

October 14, 2026

Woodmere, OH – MarshBerry, a global leader in investment banking and consulting, today announced that Justin Karr has joined the firm as a Managing Director. In this role, he will advise founders and owners of Accounting & Tax firms on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), preparing for future growth, evaluating strategic partners, and navigating the transaction process.

As the Accounting & Tax industry experiences increased consolidation, evolving ownership models, and growing private capital interest, Karr will work closely with firm owners seeking strategic guidance on maximizing value and achieving their long-term objectives.

“Justin brings a unique combination of investment banking expertise, operating experience, and trusted advisory capabilities that aligns perfectly with MarshBerry’s client-first approach,” said Phil Trem, MarshBerry President. “His extensive experience advising founder-led businesses and business services firms strengthens our ability to serve Accounting & Tax firm owners as they navigate critical growth, succession, and transaction decisions.”

Karr brings more than 20 years of corporate finance and investment banking experience, having advised clients ranging from closely held businesses to global brands. Throughout his career, he has guided founders, family-owned businesses, management teams, and financial sponsors through M&A, capital transactions, and exit planning initiatives. His experience spans business services, education and training, consumer products, and other founder-led and middle-market sectors.

In addition to his advisory background, Karr has firsthand experience as both an owner-operator and interim CEO of a Nasdaq-listed company. That perspective provides him with a deep understanding of the strategic, financial, and personal considerations business owners face when evaluating growth opportunities, succession plans, and transactions.

“Business owners face some of the most important decisions of their careers when considering a sale or strategic partnership,” said Karr. “MarshBerry has built a reputation for helping founders understand their options, create value, and achieve successful outcomes. I’m excited to help expand the firm’s capabilities to serve our clients in the Accounting & Tax industry and provide owners with the insights, strategy, and transaction expertise they need to maximize value and achieve their objectives.”

Prior to joining MarshBerry, Karr served as a Managing Director at Sequel Advisors (formerly Transact Capital Partners), where he was responsible for expanding the firm’s New York presence and developing its Business Services practice. Karr earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration through the Honors Program at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business.
