As President of MarshBerry Networks, Keith Captain leads FirstChoice, a MarshBerry Company, and Connect, MarshBerry’s executive peer exchange.
In his role, he focuses on helping independent agencies accelerate growth through education, strategic planning, operational excellence and innovative technology solutions. He also works to strengthen alignment and collaboration between Connect and FirstChoice, ensuring both networks continue to deliver meaningful value and competitive advantages to their members.
Under Keith’s leadership, FirstChoice has become one of the fastest-growing agency networks in the country and has been recognized by Insurance Journal as the nation’s largest agency partnership – with established relationships spanning 43 states and more than 745 agency members.
As part of FirstChoice’s commitment to member success, Keith also champions the adoption of technology that helps agencies operate more efficiently and better serve their clients. This includes embracing AI-powered capabilities, such as FirstChoice Advantage, and digital tools that streamline workflows, enhance communication, and create a more seamless placement experience, enabling agencies to focus on growth while delivering exceptional client service.
Background
Keith spent the first 18 years of his career working across a broad range of functions with national and regional insurance carriers, including claims, underwriting, operations, product management, and sales. These experiences provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the insurance ecosystem and the challenges agencies face in an evolving marketplace.
With more than 25 years of insurance industry experience, Keith is known for building strong, collaborative relationships with agents, carriers, and strategic partners. His passion for helping independent agencies thrive continues to drive his work as he guides organizations through growth, change, and industry transformation.
Accomplishments and Industry Leadership
A respected industry thought leader, Keith serves as a featured speaker at FirstChoice’s annual In Motion Independent Agent Member Conference and other industry events, sharing insights on moving from a captive to independent agency owner, agency growth, carrier partnerships, technology innovation and market trends. He continues to cultivate strategic relationships across carrier and insurtech communities, bringing new opportunities and solutions to FirstChoice members.
Keith holds a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University and maintains an active Property and Casualty Insurance License.
