As President of MarshBerry's Financial Advisory Division, Phil brings extensive knowledge in merger & acquisition (M&A) advisory and operations, specifically in the business and technology arenas and is a trusted partner for buyers and sellers who depend on his proficiency at deal negotiation, due diligence, deal execution and integration planning. His experience encompasses the full life cycle of an M&A transaction for independently-owned insurance agents & brokers, specialty distributors, wealth management advisors, retirement planning specialists, private equity firms, banks & credit unions and insurance carriers.

John Orsini
Director, Financial Advisory

John Orsini joined MarshBerry as Director in January 2021 for its Registered Investment Advisor division. In his role, he is responsible for being the client-facing lead on merger and acquisition projects, developing strategy and implementation of client deliverables and maintaining client relationships to ensure successful project execution.

Managing Director

Kim Kovalski joined MarshBerry in 2021 and is charged with providing strategic and operational consulting services to MarshBerry’s client base of independently-owned insurance agents & brokers, specialty distributors, wealth management businesses, private equity firms, banks & credit unions and insurance carriers.

Kim has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry as an executive and private equity investor. Her extensive knowledge specifically in insurance distribution, planning and execution is instrumental to those cultivating and nurturing firms looking to broaden their retirement services and wealth advisory portfolios.

Before joining MarshBerry, Kim co-founded and led Bikelane Solutions, an industry-focused property & casualty retail insurance broker. Kim recognized the opportunity to develop a next generation insurance distribution platform that incorporated leading edge technology, sophisticated digital marketing capabilities, and revamped sales and operational structures to support accelerated organic growth and streamlined operations. Kim also served as CFO of Ovation Benefits Group, one of the largest independent employee benefits brokerage firms in the
country. During her time at Ovation Benefits Group, Kim assisted in driving profitable organic growth, optimizing operations, and business development activities. She has also held leadership positions as COO and CFO of Karelia Health, a disease management company incubated within Ovation that provided health intervention programs to at-risk employees of large and self-insured businesses.

Kim spent over a decade at Conning Capital Partners, an insurance and financial services focused private equity firm, where she lead deal processes from beginning to end. In addition to sourcing investment opportunities, leading due diligence, and negotiating deal structure and terms, Kim provided strategic guidance to portfolio company leaders as a Director.

Kim graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Master of Business Administration.
